Direction of study
Facing east or north while studying is traditionally advised for absorption and recall. The desk should have a solid wall behind and an unobstructed view forward, never a wall pressing directly against the face.
Light, clutter and screens
Natural light from the left for right-handed children, minimal clutter, and screens kept off the primary study surface produce measurable improvement. Overhead beams and storage above the head should be avoided.
