Why the entrance matters most

In Vastu the main door is treated as the mouth of the building. Everything that enters your home — opportunity, money, guests, and equally, stress and conflict — is understood to arrive through this threshold first. When a consultation begins, the entrance is almost always the first zone examined.

This is also the zone where mistakes are most common, because entrances are usually decided by the builder's convenience rather than by direction.

How to assess your own entrance

Stand inside your home facing the main door and take a compass reading. Note the direction the door faces. North, east and north-east facing entrances are generally supportive. South-west and certain south entrances need careful handling rather than panic.

Next, look at what is directly in front of the door outside — a pole, a sharp corner, a staircase descending away, or an accumulation of clutter each affect the quality of energy entering.

Corrections that do not require breaking anything

Keep the entrance well lit and the door opening inward without obstruction. Remove shoe racks, dustbins and broken items from the immediate entry area. Use a threshold marker and maintain the door hardware so it never creaks or sticks.

Where the direction itself is unfavourable, balancing elements — metal, colour and light placed by direction — are used to shift the effect. The specific combination depends on your chart and your building, which is why generic charts rarely help.

When to consult

If your household has faced repeated financial leakage, frequent illness or unusually high conflict since moving in, the entrance is worth reviewing formally alongside your birth chart.
